What are signs that my pet has parasites?

Some signs that may indicate that your pet has parasites are:

• Vomiting
• Swollen belly

How are parasites detected?

A stool sample is collected and inspected with a microscope for most parasites, except tapeworms and heartworms. A blood test is necessary to diagnose heartworms, and tapeworms are visible to the naked eye. Our team may recommend ultrasounds and X-rays determine how the parasite has affected your pet.

Is prevention necessary for indoor pets?

Yes. Parasites can enter your home and infect your pet by latching on to human clothing or shoes. If your loyal companion meets with another pet or rodent inside the home, they are at risk of catching parasites.

When does my pet need prevention medication?
